Scope

GB/T 32834-2016 is the English-translated version of 干挂饰面石材.

China's national standard for natural stone products installed by dry hanging. It specifies the terms and definitions, the classification, grading, naming and marking, the technical requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the marking, packaging, transport and storage, and it applies to natural granite, marble, limestone and sandstone processed into building slabs, mouldings, solid columns and similar products for dry-hung facades. Dry hanging is the method by which stone is fixed to a building on metal anchors with an air gap behind it, rather than bedded in mortar, and it is now how nearly all stone cladding above the ground floor is installed. The change matters because it moves the stone from compression into tension. A mortar-bedded slab is supported over its whole back and carries its own weight through the wall; a dry-hung slab hangs from a few anchor points, and its weight, the wind load on the facade and any movement of the frame behind it are all carried by the small volume of stone around each anchor. So the properties that matter change entirely: what counts is not compressive strength, which every building stone has in abundance, but flexural strength and the resistance of the anchor slot to pull-out - and this standard exists because stone selected against the general facing-stone standards can be entirely adequate bedded in mortar and unsafe hung from a wall. The consequence of getting it wrong is a slab falling several storeys, so the requirements here are safety requirements, not quality ones. Radionuclide limits follow GB 6566 and the test methods follow the GB/T 9966 series. Issued on 29 August 2016 and in force since 1 July 2017.

This standard specifies the terminology and definition, classification, grade, naming of natural stone products (hereinafter referred to as dry hanging stone) using dry hanging installation With marking, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transportation and storage. This standard applies to the building decoration works using dry hanging installed natural granite, natural marble, natural limestone, natural sandstone plus Work into the building plate, flower lines, solid cylinder and other products.
