Scope
GB/T 32839-2016 is the English-translated version of 干挂石材用金属挂件.
China's national standard for the metal anchors used to hang facing stone. It specifies the terms and definitions, the product classification, the dimensions, the technical requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the marking, packaging, transport and storage of metal anchoring components for dry-hung stone, and it applies to the anchors used in dry-hanging stone construction and installation. It is the companion to the stone standard GB/T 32834, and the pair only make sense together: one specifies the stone that will be hung, the other the metalwork that hangs it, and a facade fails at whichever of the two was specified less carefully. The standard distinguishes the single anchor - one metal element connecting a stone slab to the primary structure - from the assembled anchor system built from several elements, and it sets the dimensions and requirements for each. What matters most in this product is corrosion. An anchor is buried in the cavity behind a stone facade, in a space that is ventilated, damp, unreachable and expected to last the life of the building, and it is loaded in tension and shear the entire time. Nobody will ever inspect it, and its failure drops a stone slab onto whatever is below. Hence the reliance on stainless steel and its fastener standards, and hence the reference to GB/T 9966.7, which tests the strength of the joint between the slab and the anchor rather than either component alone. Issued on 29 August 2016 and in force since 1 July 2017.

This standard specifies the terms and definitions of dry hanging stone metal pendant (hereinafter referred to as pendant), product classification, size, technical requirements, test Methods, inspection rules and signs, packaging, transportation and storage. This standard applies to dry hanging stone construction and installation of metal pendant.
