1 Scope

China's national test method for feed mixers - the machine at the centre of every feed mill, whose only job is to make every kilogram of the finished feed the same as every other, and whose failure to do so is invisible until the animals show it. The standard specifies the terms and definitions, the test conditions, the test items and test methods, and the test report for feed mixers. It applies to the performance testing, the checking of the structural parameters and the testing of the materials of batch and continuous solid feed mixers; it does not apply to the drum, V-type, planetary and auger mixers used for diluting the trace components of additive premixes. The measurement the whole document turns on is the mixing uniformity, expressed as the coefficient of variation of a tracer between samples drawn from the batch, determined in accordance with GB/T 5918 for the feed itself and GB/T 10649 for the trace elements of a premix. Around it the standard sets the conditions that have to hold for such a figure to mean anything: the composition, the moisture and the particle size distribution of the test material, determined to GB/T 6435, GB/T 5917.1 and, where maize is used, GB/T 17890 and GB/T 10362; the fill level and the mixing time; and how and from where the samples are drawn. The other test items are the ones a purchaser needs: the productivity, the power consumption and the specific energy, the residue left in the machine between batches, which is what causes carry-over from a medicated feed to the next one, the discharge time, and the noise, measured by the enveloping surface method of GB/T 3768. Issued on 24 February 2016 and in force since 1 September 2016, it is held by SAC/TC 384.

This standard specifies the terms and definitions Mixer test, test conditions, test items and test methods, test reports. This standard applies to performance test batch and continuous feed solid mixer, structure parameter detection and test materials testing. This standard does not apply to the additive premix diluted trace components for drum-type, V-type planetary auger mixers.

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 The maximum working volume Batch mixer to ensure maximum volume reaches a predetermined degree of homogeneity of the batch loaded materials.

3.2 Minimum working volume Batch mixer to ensure the minimum volume reaches a predetermined degree of homogeneity of the batch loaded materials.

3.3 Effective volume Batch mixer rated load of material volume.

3.4 Load factor Batch mixer when mixing materials, loaded with material volume ratio of effective volume percentage.

3.5 Rated batch mixing quality Batch mixer at mixing index to meet the requirements of the premise, the total mass of the manufacturer of each batch of mixed materials.
