GB/T 3102.6-1993 is the English-translated version of 光及有关电磁辐射的量和单位.
GB/T 3102.6-1993 is the part of the Chinese national series on quantities and units that covers light and related electromagnetic radiation: the names, symbols and definitions of the radiometric, photometric and spectral quantities - radiant and luminous flux, intensity, luminance, illuminance, exposure, emissivity, the refractive index and the rest - with their SI units. It is the reference that fixes how these quantities are written in Chinese standards, instrument specifications and test reports, which is why lighting, optics and photobiology documents cite it rather than defining their own symbols. It belongs to the GB 3100 to GB 3102 series on the International System of Units and its application, and corresponds to the light and radiation part of ISO 31. It is to be superseded by GB/T 3102.7-2026; this edition remains in force in the meantime. Issued on 2 January 1993, it has applied since 1 July 1994 and replaced GB 3102.6-1986.

This document was issued on 2 January 1993 by the National Technical Supervision Bureau of the People's Republic of China, and has applied since 1 July 1994.
It replaces GB 3102.6-1986.
It is to be superseded by GB/T 3102.7-2026, Quantities and units - Part 7: Light and radiation.
It is a GB/T standard: recommended rather than compulsory, but it is the text a Chinese reviewer, customer or inspection body applies.
