Scope

GB/T 30246.5-2014 is the English-translated version of 家庭网络 第5部分:终端设备规范 家用和类似用途电器.

GB/T 30246.5-2014 is Part 5 of the Chinese home network series, and it is the part that deals with the appliances themselves - the washing machine, the air conditioner, the refrigerator once they are expected to join a network rather than merely be switched on. The series defines the network; this part defines what a networked appliance has to be, so that a device from one manufacturer and a controller from another can be put in the same house with some expectation of them working together. It specifies the requirements for home and similar electrical appliances acting as home network terminal devices, covering their functions and performance, their hardware and software interfaces, safety, and the marking and product numbering by which they are identified on the network. It applies to household and similar electrical appliances used in networks in domestic and similar indoor locations. Classified under ICS 33.040.40 and CCS L78, it is aimed at appliance manufacturers, the makers of home gateways and controllers, and the certification bodies that have to judge whether an appliance advertised as connected actually meets a defined specification.
