Scope
GB/T 29905-2013 is the English-translated version of 木材防腐剂流失率试验方法.
GB/T 29905-2013 is a laboratory test method standard for wood preservatives. Clause 1 states that it specifies the laboratory test methods for the turnover of wood preservatives and that it applies to the turnover rate analysis of all kinds of wood preservatives; the page records no exclusions.
Clause 3 defines no terms of its own and refers to the terms and definitions of GB/T 14019.
Clause 4, on specimen preparation, preservative treatment and the loss method, begins with the choice of species, Masson pine (Pinus massoniana) or slash pine (P. elliottii), with the origin and the site conditions of the sample species to be noted when another species is chosen.
Specimens are to be healthy, defect-free sapwood that has not been treated with chemicals, cut to 20 mm by 20 mm by 20 mm, of moderate ring width with about four to six rings at the end face and with a density deviation between specimens of not more than 15 per cent.
For treatment, each preservative is tested at two to four concentrations chosen by reference to the target retention so as to give two to four retentions; specimens are numbered individually, dried and weighed beforehand, impregnated under a vacuum of -0.08 MPa to -0.085 MPa for 20 minutes until absorption is substantially saturated, wiped with filter paper and weighed again so that the amount taken up can be calculated, then air-dried to below 19 per cent moisture content and stored at 20 to 28 degrees Celsius.
Subclause 4.2.2 gives equation (1) for the total mass of the preservative component under test in the specimen, after which the draft breaks off. Clause 2 cites GB/T 14019 and GB/T 23229.

4 Prepare, embalmed and sample loss method
4.1 Sample preparation
4.1.1 Sample choice of species
