GB/T 29179-2012 is the English-translated version of 消防应急救援 作业规程.

GB/T 29179-2012 is the code of practice for fire emergency rescue operations.

Clause 1 says the standard specifies the terms and definitions of fire emergency rescue operations together with the basic procedures and the codes of practice for operation, that it applies to the fire emergency rescue operations of the full-time public security fire brigades and the fire brigades, and that other emergency rescue teams may refer to it when carrying them out.

Clause 2 cites GB/T 5907 and GB/T 29176.

Clause 3 takes the definitions of those two standards and adds five of its own: the basic procedure, that is the series of steps from the turnout on the alarm to the clearing of the scene and the withdrawal; the code of practice for operation, drawn up for a particular kind of fire emergency rescue; the anchor point, the actual or potential load-bearing part of a rope rescue system; the anchor system, made up of one or more anchors and giving the rope rescue system its structural connection; and the edge protection, the means or method that keeps the soft parts of the rope rescue system from sharp objects or rough edges.

Clause 4, Operating Procedures, opens with 4.1 Basic Program, whose list of steps, given as reconnaissance, evacuation warning, safety, search and rescue of personnel and the removal of danger, is cut off at a sixth item by the end of the draft, so the individual codes of practice are not shown.

The Introduction sets the standard against the rescue duties that the Fire Act and the State Council rules put on the public security fire brigades and the full-time fire brigades, and says the operating requirements it contains were drawn up for the types of fire emergency rescue technique proposed in GB/T 29176.
