Clause 3 defines the mist as the water droplets produced at the minimum design working pressure, measured in the plane 1 m below the nozzle on its axis, with Dv0.50 less than 200 µm and Dv0.99 less than 400 µm, and defines the droplet diameter Dv099 as the diameter at or below which 99% of the total liquid volume of a spray falls; the draft breaks off there.

The foreword states that the standard follows the drafting rules of GB/T 1.1-2009, that it was developed with reference to FM5560, UL2167 and ISO 6182-9:2005, and that this is its first release, so it replaces no earlier edition.

It was proposed by the People's Republic of China Ministry of Public Security, administered by the National Standardization Technical Committee fixed fire extinguishing system Technical Committee (SAC/TC113/SC2) and drafted by the Ministry of Public Security in Tianjin Fire Research Institute. It was issued on 2011-07-20 and has applied since 2011-11-01.
