Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part

1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 25246-2010 "Technical Specification for Returning Livestock and Poultry Manure to Farmland". Compared with GB/T 25246-2010, In addition to the integration and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

a) The name of the standard has been changed;

b) Added the terms "livestock and poultry manure", "livestock and poultry manure", "solid manure", "liquid manure" and "manure returned to the field" (see 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5);

c) The term "safe use" has been deleted (see

3.1 of the.2010 edition);

d) The hygienic requirements for compost and biogas fertilizer have been changed and merged into the hygienic indicators for livestock and poultry manure (see 4.2,.2010 edition).

4.1.2 and 4.1.3);

e) Deleted the technical requirements for the collection, storage and treatment of feces (see

4.1.4 of the.2010 edition);

f) The limits on heavy metal content in livestock and poultry manure have been deleted, and requirements for compliance with relevant standards have been proposed (see 4.3,

g) Added requirements for testing soil salt content after returning manure to the field (see 4.4);

1 Scope

GB/T 25246-2025 is the Chinese technical specification for applying livestock and poultry manure to land. It sits at the point where two policies meet: China wants manure returned to soil rather than discharged, and it wants nitrogen and phosphorus losses to water reduced, and whether manure application achieves the first without worsening the second depends entirely on the rate, the timing and the method. The standard sets the general requirements and then the application rate, the principles for determining it and the calculation method based on the crop nutrient requirement, the soil nutrient status and the nutrient content and availability of the manure, with the nitrogen and phosphorus limits that cap it; then the application timing relative to the crop and the season, the methods of application and incorporation, the requirements on the manure itself including its treatment, maturity and hygiene, the areas and conditions where application is restricted or prohibited, and the records, monitoring and effect evaluation. It takes effect on 1 August 2025.

This document specifies the general requirements, application amount, record keeping and effect monitoring of livestock and poultry manure returning to the fields. Field application methods, sampling and analysis methods. This document applies to the return of livestock and poultry manure to the fields after being harmlessly treated and decomposed.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.2 The main raw material is livestock and poultry manure, which is used as fertilizer after being harmlessly treated and decomposed.
