Scope
GB/T 24606-2021 is the English-translated version of 滚动轴承 无损检测 磁粉检测.
GB/T 24606-2021 is the Chinese national standard for the magnetic particle testing of rolling bearing parts.
It sets the procedure of the wet magnetic particle examination: the equipment and the magnetising technique, the suspension, the preparation of the part, the examination and the lighting, the interpretation of the indications, the demagnetisation and the records.
It applies to bearing parts of ferromagnetic material - raw material, blanks, semi-finished and finished parts and parts taken out of service - for surface and near-surface defects.
Bearing works and their non-destructive testing departments use it. It replaces GB/T 24606-2009, was issued on 31 December 2021 and has applied since 1 July 2022.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1. Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" drafted.
This document replaces GB/T 24606-2009 "Magnetic particle inspection for non-destructive testing of rolling bearings". Compared with GB/T 24606-2009, Apart from editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:
a) Added some terms and definitions (see Chapter 3);
b) Modified the requirements for testing personnel (see Chapter 5, Chapter 5 of the:2009 edition);
c) increase the requirements for auxiliary equipment (see 6.2);
d) The requirement for particle size of magnetic powder is added (see 6.3.1);
e) Deleted the formula of magnetic suspension and added the requirements for carrier liquid (see 6.3.2, 6.3.2 of the:2009 edition);
f) Increase the requirements for magnetic suspension pollutants, the preparation of magnetic suspensions, the detection methods of pollutants and the water break test (see 6.3.3);
g) Modified and refined the requirements for standard test pieces and standard test blocks (see 6.4, 6.4 of the:2009 edition);
h) Modified the magnetization method (see Chapter 7, Chapter 8 of the:2009 edition).
1 Scope
This document specifies the procedures for wet magnetic particle testing of rolling bearing parts (hereinafter referred to as "parts").
This document applies to bearing parts (including raw materials, blanks, semi-finished products, finished products, in-service maintenance parts) made of ferromagnetic materials on the surface and near Magnetic particle inspection of surface defects.

3 Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 12604.5-2020 and the following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Equivalent diameter
Deff The diameter of a cylinder that is the same as the perimeter of the part is the equivalent diameter of the part.
3.2 Defect
A discontinuity of size, orientation, location, or nature that would impair the effective use of the part or fail to meet specified acceptance requirements.
3.3 Central conductor method
A magnetization method in which the conductor passes through the center of the aperture of the inspected part, and after electrification, a circumferential magnetic field is formed in and around the inspected part. [Source: GB/T 12604.5-2020, 2.5, with modifications]
3.4 Eccentric conductor method
If the diameter of the hollow inspected part is too large, the magnetizing current provided by the flaw detector is not enough to make the surface of the inspected part reach the required magnetic field strength When the mandrel is biased, the conductor can be inserted into the tested part and placed close to the inner surface of the tested part, and the current can pass through the conductor to form a circumferential magnetic field.
