Scope
GB/T 19837-2019 is the English-translated version of 城镇给排水紫外线消毒设备.
GB/T 19837-2019 covers ultraviolet disinfection equipment for urban water supply and drainage works. It gives the classification and composition of the equipment, its requirements, the testing, the inspection rules and the rules for marking, packaging, transport and storage.
Equipment is tube type or channel type by use, and low pressure or medium pressure by lamp; channel equipment must carry at least the lamp modules and their bracket, the power distribution and system control centres, the water level control and the online dose monitoring.
It defines the UV lamp aging factor as the ratio of the lamp's output power at a given time to its output after 100 hours. It applies to drinking water, purified drinking water, municipal sewage effluent and reclaimed water.
It replaces GB/T 19837-2005, was issued on 10 December 2019 and has applied since 10 December 2019.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 19837-2005 "Urban UV disinfection equipment for water supply and drainage". This standard is in line with GB/T 19837-2005 In addition to editorial changes, the main technical content changes are as follows.
--- Revised "Scope" (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the 2005 edition);
--- Modified "terms and definitions" (see Chapter 3, Chapter 3 of the 2005 edition);
--- Modified "classification and composition" (see Chapter 4, Chapter 4 of the 2005 edition);
--- Modified the "packaging" requirements (see 8.2.2, 8.2.3, 8.2.4, Chapter 1 of the 2005 edition);
--- Modified the "Test Method for UV Lamp Life and Aging Coefficient" (see Appendix A, Appendix A of the 2005 edition);
--- Modified the "Method for Detecting the Scaling Coefficient of Ultraviolet Lamp Sleeve" to stipulate by referring to Appendix B in GB/T 32091-2015 (see 6.3, (Appendix B of the 2005 edition);
--- Modified the ultraviolet effective dose and average dose detection methods, and explicitly adopted the quasi-parallel light detection method to quote
GB/T 32091 specifies Appendix E (see 6.5, Appendix C and Appendix D of the 2005 edition);
--- Deleted the "design requirements for ultraviolet disinfection equipment" (see Appendix E of the 2005 edition).
