Scope
GB/T 18654.1-2026 is the English-translated version of 鱼类种质检验 第1部分:检验规则.
GB/T 18654.1-2026 is the Chinese national standard covering the general rules for inspecting a fish germplasm population - what is inspected, when, by whom and against what criteria a population is accepted or rejected. Germplasm inspection is what establishes that a broodstock population really is the species and strain it is sold as, and that it has not degenerated through generations of hatchery breeding. It replaces GB/T 18654.1-2008 and has been in force since 1 September 2026, one of the six parts of the GB/T 18654 series revised together. It was issued on 27 February 2026 and has been in force since 1 September 2026, replacing GB/T 18654.1-2008. The document is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. This page is published from the official record of the 2026 edition; the clause text of a standard this recent is not yet in circulation, and the figures, limits and tables it contains are those of the document itself, delivered in full with the English translation.

4 Inspection Classification
4.1 Identification and Testing Identification and testing involves examining all the characteristics specified in the fish germplasm standards.
4.2 Conformity Inspection Conformity testing is the inspection of key indicators and important characteristics specified in fish germplasm standards.
5 Inspection Items
The testing items shall be in accordance with the relevant provisions of the fish germplasm standards or the requirements of the agreement between the client and the contractor, based on the testing classification.
6 Judgment Rules
6.1 Determination of Individual Samples The sample test results were compared item by item with the germplasm standards for this fish species, and judged into two categories. qualified and unqualified, except for measurable traits and growth. In addition, if one or more indicators fail to meet the requirements, the result is considered unqualified. The determination of the test results for each test item is shown in Table 1.
6.2 Comprehensive Judgment of Population Samples After summarizing and analyzing the individual test results of all samples, a comprehensive judgment is made. When the sample pass rate reaches 90%, the batch of samples can be deemed (qualified/acceptable). If the result is satisfactory, it is considered acceptable; otherwise, it is deemed unacceptable. An inspection report will be prepared based on the comprehensive assessment results.
6.3 Inspection Report The content and format of the inspection report shall comply with relevant national regulations.
7.Re-inspection Rules There are two situations for re-inspection.
---Except for tests requiring live samples (such as chromosome testing), this refers to retesting for other tests when there are objections. For retesting, the spare samples taken and preserved during the initial test can be used. The results of the retest shall prevail.
---Retesting for tests requiring live samples or when there are objections to any of the tests. In such cases, the retesting fee should be doubled. Sampling and testing shall be conducted. The retested samples should be from the same origin and batch as the previous tested samples. The retest results shall prevail. GB/T 18654.1-2026. Fish germplasm examination - Part 1.
