GB/T 18344-2025 is the English-translated version of 汽车维护、检测、诊断技术规范.
GB/T 18344-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering servicing a car or truck that is already in use — the three levels of daily, elementary and complete maintenance and what each covers, the intervals taken from the manufacturer's own service information and set by mileage or by time, the operations themselves from lubrication and tightening to the brakes, steering, suspension, tyres and emission-related systems, and the quality assurance and the record kept when the job is signed off. It replaces GB/T 18344-2016, under the Ministry of Transport. In force from 1 January 2026. Issued on 30 June 2025, it has been in force since 1 January 2026, replacing GB/T 18344-2016.

1 Scope
This document specifies the classification and cycle of maintenance of motor vehicles, maintenance operation requirements, and quality assurance.
This document applies to the maintenance of in-use motor vehicles that use gasoline or diesel fuel; trailers may refer to this document.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this document, the terms and definitions defined in GB/T 5624, GB 7258, and GB/T 8226, as well as the following apply.
3.1 motor vehicle
A non-rail-borne vehicle powered by motor and having four or more wheels, primarily used for.
- carrying people and/or goods (articles);
- towing vehicles carrying goods (articles) or vehicles for special purposes; - specialized operations.

3.2 trailer
A non-powered road vehicle designed and manufactured to be towed by a motor vehicle for normal use on roads, primarily used for. - carrying goods; - specialized operations.
NOTE. It includes drawbar trailers, center-axle trailers, and semi-trailers.

3.3 daily maintenance
Maintenance operation centered on cleaning, resupply, and safety performance inspection.

3.4 elementary maintenance
Maintenance operation that, in addition to daily maintenance, centered on lubrication and tightening, as well as inspecting safety components in braking, steering, and other systems.

3.5 complete maintenance
Maintenance operation that, in addition to elementary maintenance, centered on inspecting and adjusting safety components such as the braking system, steering system, suspension, etc., removing and inspecting tires, performing tire rotation, and inspecting and adjusting engine operating conditions and vehicle emission-related systems.

4 Classification and cycle of maintenance of motor vehicles
4.1 Classification of maintenance
Maintenance of motor vehicles is divided into daily maintenance, elementary maintenance, and complete maintenance. Daily maintenance shall be performed by the driver, while elementary maintenance and complete maintenance shall be performed by professionals.
4.2 Cycle of maintenance
4.2.1 Cycle of daily maintenance is before departure, during driving, and after parking.
4.2.2 The determination of cycle of elementary maintenance and complete maintenance
shall be based primarily on mileage intervals. For motor vehicles where mileage intervals are inconvenient to use, driving time intervals may be used.
4.2.3 Mileage intervals or driving time intervals shall be determined according to the
requirements of the maintenance technical information published by the motor vehicle manufacturer (hereinafter referred to as “maintenance technical information”), combined with factors such as vehicle category, vehicle operating condition, mileage, road conditions, climate conditions, and service life.
4.2.4 Recommended cycles for elementary maintenance and complete maintenance for
road transport vehicles are given in Annex A.
5 Motor vehicle maintenance operation requirements
5.1 Basic requirements
Motor vehicle maintenance operation items and contents shall be determined according to the maintenance technical information and 5.2, 5.3, and 5.4.For maintenance-free systems, assemblies, and devices whose service life is affected by disassembly, their maintenance operation requirements shall be carried out according to the provisions of the maintenance technical information.
