Scope
GB/T 17684-2008 is the English-translated version of 贵金属及其合金术语.
GB/T 17684-2008 is the Chinese national standard on terminology for precious metals and their alloys, in the field of metallurgy. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 31 March 2008 by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 September 2008. Classification: ICS 77.120.99, CCS H68. This page is published from the official record of the standard held by the Chinese standards administration: the identification, the dates, the classification and the issuing body are taken from there. The clause text, the tables and the numeric limits are in the document itself, which is delivered complete in English translation.

Foreword
This standard replaces GB/T 17684-1999 "precious metals and their alloys term." This standard compared with GB/T 17684-1999, the main changes are as follows:
--- Increased precious metal electrical contact materials special terms;
--- Increased precious metal shape memory alloys, precious metal photographic materials, precious metals nano powder, precious metal brazing, precious metal alloy solder paste Materials, precious metal winding materials, precious metal conductive ring material, curable precious metal paste, paste and other precious metal sintering term;
--- Original standard terms such as palladium silver resistor paste removal;
--- Original standard temperature material further refinement, the original standard terminology only explanation for the precious metal temperature materials, and this standard solution Based on the interpretation of the term precious metal temperature materials into precious metal thermocouples and platinum resistance thermometers categories;
--- Original standard terminology precious metal solder to solder precious metals and precious metals into the noble metal vacuum brazing filler metal and precious metal Metal alloy solder paste; There are variations on the standard structure
--- the original. The standard proposed by China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association. This standard Nonferrous Metals by the National Standardization Technical Committee.
