Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part

1.Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 17643-2011 "Geosynthetics Polyethylene Geomembrane". Compared with GB/T 17643-2011, In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

--- Added the scope of application of polyethylene geomembrane (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the.2011 edition);

--- Changed the terms and definitions of geomembranes (see 3.1,

3.1 of the.2011 edition);

--- Added the terms and definitions of polyethylene geomembrane (see 3.2);

--- Deleted high-density polyethylene geomembrane, low-density polyethylene geomembrane, linear low-density polyethylene geomembrane, tensile yield strength, yield strength Terms and definitions of elongation, tensile strength at break, elongation at break, right-angle tear load, and 2% secant modulus (see.2011 edition 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, 3.7, 3.8, 3.9, 3.10, 3.11, 3.13);

--- Changed the density of basic raw materials (see Table 1,

1 Scope

GB/T 17643-2025 is the Chinese national standard on geosynthetics - polyethylene geomembrane, in the field of rubber and plastic industries. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 25 April 2025 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 November 2025.
