Scope

GB/T 14629.4-2018 is the English-translated version of 猾子皮.

GB/T 14629.4-2018 specifies the terms and definitions, classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, transport and storage of goatling skin, and applies to raw goatling skins that are untreated after slaughter or have only been suitably preserved.

It defines the commercial types - grey, white, western black, Zhongwei and miscellaneous goatling skin - and the coat colour classes from iron-grey through true grey to light, by the visual proportion of black and white hair.

For each type it sets grades I to III and below-grade by pelt quality, coat colour, lustre, hair fineness and density, pattern, hair length, minimum area and permitted defects in main and secondary parts, and it gives the methods for measuring hair length, area and defects and the skin-by-skin inspection rules.

It replaces GB/T 14629.4-1993: the title has been changed, the general terms, processing requirements and grade price differentials have been deleted, and the test methods, inspection rules and packaging, storage and transport requirements have been revised.

Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

This standard replaces GB/T 14629.4-1993, Fur - Goatling skin. Compared with GB/T 14629.4-1993, the main technical changes are as follows:

- the title of the standard has been changed;

- the general terms in "Terms" have been deleted (see Clause 2 of the 1993 edition);

- "Processing requirements" and "Grade price differentials" in "Technical requirements" have been deleted (see Clause 4 of the 1993 edition);

- the test methods have been changed (see Clause 5; Clause 5 of the 1993 edition);

- the inspection rules have been changed (see Clause 6; Clause 6 of the 1993 edition);

- the requirements for packaging, storage and transport have been changed (see Clause 7; Clause 7 of the 1993 edition).

This standard was proposed by the China National Light Industry Council.

This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee on Leather Industry of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 252).
