Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1. Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" drafted.

This document replaces GB/T 1416-2003 "Envelope". Compared with GB/T 1416-2003, except for structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main The technical changes are as follows:

--- Added the description of the tongue sealing and the lap width on the back (see 5.1.2);

--- Deleted envelope paper such as C, and changed the brightness requirements for Type I envelope paper (see 5.2.1, 5.2.1 of the:2003 edition);

--- Added the requirement that the recipient's "address", "recipient" and "telephone (optional)" should be printed on the front of the envelope (see 5.3.1.4);

--- Changed the location requirements of the barcode printing area (see 5.3.1.5, 5.3.1.7 of the:2003 edition);

--- Increased environmental protection requirements (including ink printing, adhesives, recyclable signs, heavy metals and specific substance limits) (see 5.5 and 6.3);

--- Changed the factory inspection (see 7.3, 7.3 of the:2003 edition)

--- Changed the type inspection (see 7.4, 7.4 of the:2003 edition);

--- Added transport requirements (see 8.3.1);

--- Added envelope appearance (see Appendix A);

--- Added the recyclable sign (see Appendix B).

1 Scope

This document specifies the varieties and specifications, requirements, test methods, inspection rules and packaging, marking, transportation and storage of envelopes.

This document applies to domestic and international envelopes used in postal communications.

This document does not apply to Clear Window Envelopes, Confidential Envelopes, International Business Reply Envelopes and Special Envelopes.

Note: Special envelopes include postage envelopes, first day covers, commemorative envelopes, postal service envelopes and insured envelopes.
