Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1:1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" drafted: This document replaces GB/T 14088-1993 "Technical Conditions for Marine Haloalkane Fire Extinguishing Systems", compared with GB/T 14088-1993, except In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

--- Changed normative references (see Chapter 2, Chapter 2 of the:1993 edition);

--- Changed the weight formula of halogenated alkane fire extinguishing agent required for the protected space (see Chapter 4 of 5:1:4:4,:1993 edition);

--- Delete the relevant content of marine halogenated alkane 1211 (difluoro-chloro-bromomethane) fire extinguishing system (see Chapter 4 of the:1993 edition and Chapter 5);

--- Increased the design concentration of fire extinguishing dose required per cubic meter of compartment volume for several types of spaces (see Chapter 4 of 5:1:4:3,:1993 edition);

--- Added general requirements for fixed total submersion fire extinguishing systems and semi-fixed total submersion fire extinguishing systems (see 5:1:7, 5:1:8);

--- Added part of the test content of the fire extinguishing system (see Chapter 6, Chapter 5 of the:1993 edition);

1 Scope

GB/T 14088-2021 is the Chinese national standard on marine halon fire extinguishing system, in the field of shipbuilding and marine structures. The /T suffix marks it as a recommended standard: it is not compulsory by itself, but it becomes binding as soon as a contract, a tender or a customer specification calls it up - which in practice is how most foreign buyers meet it. It was issued on 31 December 2021 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and has been in force since 1 July 2022.
