1 Scope

This document describes the testing methods for marine external fire protection systems after installation on board, mainly including test preparation, test conditions, test items and procedures.

Preface. This document does not include equipment performance requirements.

This document applies to external fire suppression systems installed on ships for the purpose of extinguishing fires on other ships, water facilities, or adjacent structures at docks.

Onboard testing of the defense system.

This document applies to marine external fire protection systems that use water or foam as the medium.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

A fire extinguishing system installed on ships to extinguish fires that occur on other ships, on water facilities, or in buildings near docks.

Note. Generally, the system consists of a fire pump, foam liquid pump, fire monitor, foam proportioner, power source (3.2), lifting device (if any) (3.5), and control system.

It consists of valves, accessories, and pipelines.

The prime mover that provides driving power to the fire pump.

watercurtain system

A fixed system that provides protection against external heat radiation to ships equipped with this system by spraying water.

firemonitor

A device that provides extinguishing agent from fire pumps and foam pumps (3.9) and continuously sprays extinguishing agent (water or foam mixture greater than 16 L/s).

Lifting device telescopicmast the fixed platform for installing the fire monitor (3.4) is powered and can raise and lower the fire monitor (3.4) to a certain height.

foam concentrate

It can be mixed with water at a suitable concentration to form a concentrated liquid foam mixture (3.7).
