Scope
GB/T 13147-2009 is the English-translated version of 铜及铜合金复合钢板焊接技术要求.
GB/T 13147-2009 specifies the technical requirements for welding copper and copper alloy clad steel plates with a total thickness above 8 mm, a copper or copper alloy cladding and a carbon steel or low alloy steel base layer; it may be applied by reference to other copper-steel clad plates.
It covers welding consumables and shielding gases for the base, transition and cladding layers, welder qualification, cutting, groove types and dimensions for butt and corner joints, groove preparation, cleaning, assembly tolerances, bevelling of plates of unequal thickness and tack welding, and then the welding itself, inspection of weld quality and repair of defects.
The welding sequence is base layer first, back-gouged by grinding, then a transition layer of at least 3.0 mm extending 0.5 mm to 1.0 mm beyond the clad interface, then the cladding bead.
It replaces GB/T 13147-1991, adding helium as shielding gas, revising the transition layer thickness and room-temperature bend test requirements, moving the consumables table to informative Annex A and referring safety to GB 9448.

Foreword
This standard replaces GB/T 13147-1991, Technical conditions for welding of copper and copper alloy clad steel plates.
Compared with GB/T 13147-1991, the main changes in this standard are as follows:
- the title of the standard has been changed to "Specification for welding of copper and copper alloy clad steel plates";
- the normative references have been revised;
- Table 1 has been changed into informative Annex A;
- helium has been added as a shielding gas for welding;
- the requirements for the thickness of the transition layer weld bead have been modified;
- the provisions for the bend test at room temperature have been modified;
- safety protection is now required to follow GB 9448, Safety in welding and cutting.
Annex A of this standard is informative.
