Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part

1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting. This document replaces GB 6142-2008 "Grading of Gramineae Seeds". Compared with GB 6142-2008, the only changes are structural adjustments and editing. Aside from the sexual alterations, the main technical changes are as follows:

a) The "moisture" index value has been changed to 13% (see Table 1,.2008 version);

b) The following have been added. "Hybrid Ice Grass", "Hunan Barnyard Grass", "Short-awned Wheatgrass", "Chinese Sheep Festuca", "Leymus chinensis", "Swallowtail Millet", and "Sea Paspalum (Seashore Paspalum)". Grading indicators for the quality of "Cold-climate Kentucky Bluegrass" and "Sorghum" grass seeds (see serial numbers 2, 20, 21, 33, 39, 44, 49, 53 and... in Table 1). 65);

c) The grass species "Feathergrass" has been removed (see Table 1 in the.2008 edition);

d) The purity index values for "corn" have been changed (see Table 1,.2008 edition of Table 1);

e) The following terms have been changed. *Isodon serrata*,...Alopecurus aequalis*, *Oat*, *Bryophytum comosum*, *Bryophytum purpureus*, *Ferula orientalis*, and *Barnyardgrass*. 1 Scope

GB 6142-2025 is the Chinese national standard on quality grading of gramineous seed, in the field of agriculture. It carries no /T suffix, which in the Chinese system means compliance is mandatory: a product or a practice within its scope has to meet it to be lawfully made, sold or carried out in China. It was issued on 31 December 2025 by the State Administration for Market Regulation; Standardization Administration of China, and takes effect on 1 January 2027. Classification: ICS 65.020.01, CCS CCS B 21. This document specifies the technical requirements and grading indicators for the quality grading of grass seeds. This document applies to the quality assessment of grass seeds produced, sold, and used. It can be used as a reference for similar plant species and varieties in the same genus.
