Scope
GB 27898.4-2011 is the English-translated version of 固定消防给水设备 第4部分：消防气体顶压给水设备.
GB 27898.4-2011 is Part 4 of the Chinese series on fixed water supply equipment used for fire-protection and covers gas driven equipment, in which compressed gas charged into a pneumatic water tank displaces the stored fire-fighting water and keeps the pipe network at the rated fire-fighting working pressure.
It specifies terms and definitions, classification into general stabilizing pressure type (code D) and non-stabilizing pressure type (code DJ) with a model designation system, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, nameplates and operating instructions, packaging, transport and storage; similar gas driven water supply equipment may use it for reference.
The requirements set a rated working pressure of at least 0.3 MPa, a maximum flow rate of at least 5 L/s and a replacement water volume of at least 3 m3, and cover components and pressure vessels, marking, manual, remote and automatic starting, pressure deviation within ±0.05 MPa in fire-fighting operation, supply duration of at least 10 min, pump make-up, the gas driving system (manifold, pressure reducing valve, container valves, actuating and safety relief devices) and the control cabinet with dual power supply and battery backup.
Chapters 5, 7 and 8 are mandatory and the remainder recommended; it is the first edition, many requirements referring to GB 27898.1-2011, GB 27898.2-2011 and GB 16669-2010.
