1 Scope

Part 2 of China's mandatory national standard for vegetable seed, covering Chinese cabbage. Chinese cabbage is among the most widely grown vegetables in China and the one that fills the winter store across the north, which makes the quality of its seed a matter of national supply rather than of a single grower's season. The crop is also mostly grown from hybrid seed, and that is where varietal purity becomes decisive: a hybrid lot contaminated with selfed or off-type seed produces plants that do not head uniformly, and a field that matures unevenly cannot be harvested in one pass. The standard sets the guaranteed minima for varietal purity, germination, cleanliness and moisture, with the grades that separate breeder, foundation and certified seed, and specifies the sampling and the test methods by which a lot is judged.

3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this part of GB 16715.

3.1 Stock basicseed Breeder seed multiplication with the first generation to the third generation, seeds and confirmed to meet the specified quality requirements.

3.2 Field with the kind qualifiedseed With the original breeder of the first generation to the third generation or hybrid seeds, seeds and confirmed to meet the specified quality requirements.

4 Quality requirements

4.1 General Seed quality requirements by the quality indicators and quality stated values. The quality indexes include purity, clarity, germination rate and moisture; quality standards NOTE value should be true, and in accordance with the provisions of 4.2.

6 Inspection rules
