Scope
QC/T 824-2019 is the English-translated version of 汽车用转速传感器.
QC/T 824-2019 covers rotational speed sensors for automobiles and specifies their requirements, test methods and inspection rules. It replaces QC/T 824-2009 and applies to crankshaft speed sensors, wheel speed sensors and gearbox speed sensors fitted to category M, N and O vehicles, with other motor vehicles applying it for reference.
Clause 3 defines the rotational speed sensor as a device that measures the speed of engines, gearboxes or wheels and converts it into an electrical signal, and the crankshaft speed sensor, which detects both speed and crankshaft position.
Clause 4 requires the sensor to keep the basic performance of 4.2 after low temperature storage at -40 degrees C for 24 hours followed by 2 hours of recovery at room temperature, after operation at -40 degrees C, after high temperature operation at the levels tabulated in Table 2, and after the vibration test, which must also leave the appearance undamaged; protection degree is set in Table 3, excluding the connector, and durability is tabulated in Table 5 for commercial vehicles and Table 6 for passenger vehicles.
Clause 5 runs cyclic damp heat to 5.6.2.3 of GB/T 28046.4-2011, ten cycles between -10 degrees C and 65 degrees C, free fall to 4.3 of GB/T 28046.3-2011, and chemical resistance to GB/T 28046.5.
Type inspection takes at least 12 samples from a batch that has passed exit-factory inspection, re-inspects them and splits them into four groups; marking, packaging and storage follow Chapter 6 of QC/T 413-2002.

GB/T 28046.3-2011 Road vehicles - Environmental conditions and testing for electrical and electronic equipment - Part 3: Mechanical loads
3 Terms and definitions
This standard uses the following terms and definitions.
3.1 Rotational speed sensor
A sensor, which measures the rotational speed of automobile engines, gearboxes, wheels, etc. AND converts them into electrical signals. Usually it includes crankshaft speed sensor, wheel speed sensor, gearbox speed sensor, turbine speed sensor.
3.2 Crankshaft speed sensor
A sensor, which is installed on the engine, to detect the speed and position of the crankshaft AND output electrical signals.
4 Requirements
4.1 General requirements
4.1.1 The sensor shall meet the requirements of this standard. IT shall be manufactured in accordance with the drawings and design documents, which are approved by the prescribed procedures.
4.5 Temperature resistance
4.5.1 Resistance to low temperature storage
The sensor has undergone a storage test, at a low temperature of -40 °C, for a duration of 24 hours; after 2 hours of recovery at room temperature, its performance shall meet the requirements of 4.2.
4.5.4 Resistance to working at low temperature
When the sensor is subjected to the test of resistance to working at low temperature at -40 °C, the performance shall meet the requirements of 4.2.
4.5.5 Resistance to working at high temperature
When the sensor is subjected to the test of resistance to working at high temperature, as shown in Table 2, the performance shall meet the requirements of 4.2.
4.7 Vibration resistance
The sensor shall be subjected to a vibration resistance test. After the test, the appearance shall not be damaged; the performance shall meet the requirements of 4.2.
4.8 Protection performance
The degree of protection of the sensor (except the connector) shall meet the requirements of Table 3.
4.12 Durability
After the durability test of Table 5, the sensor for commercial vehicles shall meet the requirements of 4.2. After the durability test in Table 6, the sensors for passenger vehicles shall meet the requirements of 4.2.
5 Test method
5.6.4 Test of resistance to working at low temperature
It is carried out according to the provisions of 5.1.1.2.2 in GB/T 28046.4-2011. The working mode 3.2 is changed to 3.1.
5.7 Test of resistance to cyclic damp heat
It is carried out according to 5.6.2.3 of GB/T 28046.4-2011. Perform 10 cycles of combined temperature/humidity cycle test, in the range of -10 °C ~ 65 °C. The working mode 3.2 is changed to 3.1 OR as negotiated with the customer.
5.11 Test of resistance to free fall
It is carried out according to the provisions of 4.3 in GB/T 28046.3-2011.
