Scope

QC/T 1151-2021 is the English-translated version of 甲醇燃料汽车技术条件.

QC/T 1151-2021 covers technical specifications of methanol fuel vehicles, setting out the terms and definitions, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, signs, labels, instructions for use, transportation and storage.

It applies to methanol fuel vehicles, both mono-fuel and diesel/methanol dual-fuel. Vehicles must comply with the relevant national mandatory standards, and every part in contact with methanol fuel or its combustion products must have corrosion protection.

Auxiliary fuel tank volume is limited to 15 L on mono-fuel vehicles of categories M1, M2, N1 and N2 and to 100 L on categories M3 and N3. A special methanol vehicle marking must be fixed in a conspicuous position at the front of the vehicle, following the normative Appendix A. The engine must meet QC/T 1146, or QC/T 1145.

M100 methanol fuel must comply with the relevant national standards, auxiliary gasoline with GB 17930 and diesel with GB 19147.

An alarm must warn the driver when remaining fuel falls below the set value; manual switching of the fuel status is not allowed, the status must be readable with an OBD scan tool and the fuel type signal must comply with ISO 15031-5.

Emissions must meet GB 18352.6 up to 3500 kg and GB 17691 above that. The fuel system clause requires methanol and gasoline evaporation control, marking of the methanol lines and the filling port, separation from heat sources, and methanol resistance for other parts that can contact the fuel.
