Scope

QC/T 1123-2019 is the English-translated version of 汽车轮胎充气泵.

QC/T 1123-2019 covers vehicle tire inflators, specifying the requirements, test methods, marks and labels for portable inflation devices powered from the vehicle electrical supply.

It defines the safety valve that guards against overpressure during inflation and the air release valve for manual deflation.

Clause 4 requires a well formed shell with a clean surface, free of cracks, missing material and obvious deformation, and to the design drawing dimensions; the power cord insulation must not crack after 168 h at minus 40 plus or minus 3 degrees C nor melt after 168 h at 85 degrees C, and the exposed cord must be at least 2.7 m for cigarette lighter supply and 4.0 m for battery supply.

Testing runs at 25 plus or minus 5 degrees C, 25 percent to 75 percent relative humidity and 12 or 24 V DC, on a rig with an air cylinder and pressure regulating valve.

It measures cord pull-out tension, plug insertion and withdrawal force, air pipe pressure resistance and aging to GB/T 1186-2016, a 98 N static pull on the air pipe for 1 min, safety valve opening pressure, release valve behaviour at set pressure plus 100 kPa, maximum operating current and filling time, gauge accuracy to GB/T 1226-2017, the pressure drop 5 s after the outlet is blocked, 100 inflation cycles, a 30 min temperature rise run logged every 5 min, protection to IP33 of GB/T 4208-2017, and 1 hour at 70 plus or minus 3 degrees C.

3 Terms and definitions

3.1 Vehicle tire inflator

Portable inflation device with the function of inflating vehicle tires (hereinafter referred to as inflator).

3.2 Safety valve

The overpressure protection device, which is installed inside the inflator, to prevent the air pressure from being too high, during the inflation process, from damaging the inflator or tires.

3.3 Air release valve

A device for manual deflation, when the inflation pressure exceeds the set value.

4 Requirements

4.1 Outline requirements of inflator

The shell of the inflator shall be well formed, with a clean surface, no cracks, lack of material, or obvious deformation; the external dimensions shall meet the requirements of the design drawing.

4.2 Requirements for main components

4.2.1 Power cord and plug
4.2.1.1 Aging resistance of power cord

There shall be no cracks in the insulation layer of the power cord, when placed at (-40 ± 3) °C for 168 h. The power supply cord's insulation does not melt, when placed at (85 ± 3) °C for 168 h.

4.2.1.2 Exposed length of power cord

The exposed length of the power cord of the inflator, which is powered by the cigarette lighter socket, shall not be less than 2.7 m. The exposed length of the power cord of the battery fetched shall not be less than 4.0 m.

5 Test method

5.1.1 Test conditions

The general conditions of the test shall meet:

- Ambient temperature: (25 ± 5) °C;

- Relative humidity: 25% ~ 75%;

- DC voltage: (12 ± 0.15) V, (24 ± 0.15) V.

5.1.2 Test device

The test device mainly includes an inflatable air cylinder and a pressure regulating valve, which meet the following requirements:

- The volume tolerance and pressure resistance of the air cylinder shall meet the requirements in Table 4;

- The pressure regulating valve shall meet the requirements of GB/T 34530.1.

5.2 Test of main components

5.2.1 Fix the power cord on the fixture of the tensile testing machine. Apply tension along the axis of the cord. Record the maximum tension value, during the process of pulling out the terminal.

5.2.2 Insert the power plug into a standard cigarette lighter socket. Use a tension gauge, to measure the insertion force and pull-out force of the power plug.

5.2.3 Air pipe pressure resistance test shall be carried out, according to the test method required by Type I in Table 3 of 7.2 in GB/T 1186-2016.

5.2.4 The air pipe aging resistance test is carried out, according to the test method required in Table 2 of 7.1 in GB/T 1186-2016.

5.2.5 Fix the air pipe on the fixture of the tensile testing machine. Apply a static tensile force of 98 N, along the axis of the air pipe. Keep it for 1 min. Record whether the joint falls off.

5.2.6 Connect the air outlet of the inflator to the standard barometer and the air cylinder. Inflate until the safety valve opens. Record the opening pressure value.

5.2.7 Connect the air outlet of the inflator to the standard air gauge and the air cylinder. Inflate to the set inflation pressure plus 100 kPa. Shut down the machine. Press and hold the release valve button for 1 min. Record the pressure values before and after the test.

5.3 General performance test

5.3.1 Connect the air outlet of the inflator to the standard barometer and the air cylinder. Inflate it to the set inflation pressure. Measure the maximum operating current and filling time.

5.3.2 Pressure gauge accuracy test is carried out, in accordance with Chapter 6 of GB/T 1226-2017.

5.3.3 Block the air outlet of the inflator. After the inflator is inflated to the set inflation pressure for 5 seconds, measure the pressure drop of the air circuit.

5.4 Cyclic inflation test

Connect the air outlet of the inflator to the standard barometer and the air cylinder. After inflating to the set inflation pressure, stop the inflator and complete the deflation within 60 minutes, which is a test cycle. A total of 100 cycles shall be completed. Record the maximum operating current and filling time of the inflator for each cycle.

5.5 Continuous working temperature rise test

5.5.1 Connect air outlet of the inflator to the standard air gauge and pressure regulating valve. The inflator continues to work, after inflating to the set inflation pressure. Record the actual current, the motor shell temperature, power cord temperature, product shell temperature, cylinder head temperature, once every 5 min. Shut down after 30 min. According to 5.3.1, measure the maximum working current and filling time of the inflator.

5.5.2 Connect air outlet of the inflator to the standard air gauge and pressure regulating valve. The inflator continues to work for 15 minutes, after reaching the set inflation pressure, in an environment of (70 ± 3) °C. Then shut down. Measure the maximum working current of the inflator and the filling time, according to 5.3.1.

5.6 Protection test

Test according to the test method required by the degree of protection IP33 in GB/T 4208-2017.

5.7 High temperature test

After putting the inflator in a high-temperature box at (70 ± 3) °C for 1 hour. Measure the maximum operating current and filling time of the inflator.
