Scope
NB/T 31039-2012 is the English-translated version of 风力发电机组雷电防护系统技术规范.
Lightning protection for wind turbines is what NB/T 31039-2012 covers, as a recommended energy industry standard of China. It specifies the lightning protection measures for a wind turbine and the requirements that go with them, dealing mainly with the turbine itself and with the unit side of its connection to the wind farm collector system.
Its stated field is the lightning protection system of land-based horizontal axis wind turbines rated at 600 kW and above, while other turbines may follow it as a reference.
It draws on the GB/T 21714 series on protection against lightning and the GB 18802 series on surge protective devices, together with GB/T 16927.1, GB/Z 25427-2010 and the international documents IEC/TS 61400-23 and IEC 61400-24-2010. Issued on 29 October 2012, it has applied since 1 March 2013.
