Scope
GB/T 36490-2018 is the English-translated version of 风力发电机组 防雷装置检测技术规范.
GB/T 36490-2018 sets out how the lightning protection systems of wind turbines are inspected.
It specifies the inspection items; general requirements on the basis of inspection, the testing equipment, the inspection period and the procedure; and the requirements and methods for inspecting blade lightning protection, nacelle lightning protection, the grounding device, equipotential bonding and surge protective devices (SPD).
Informative annexes give the main performance of some test instruments, the collation of test data and a method for measuring the grounding resistance of a unit.
It applies to the inspection of lightning protection on onshore wind turbines of 600 kW and above, and references GB/T 33629-2017 on wind turbine lightning protection. It was issued on 13 July 2018 and has applied since 1 February 2019.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions as defined in GB/T 2900.53 apply to this document.
3.1 Lightning protection device
The whole device for protecting the lightning effect of a certain space, which is composed of an external lightning protection device and an internal lightning protection device.
3.2 External lightning protection device
It consists of a lightning receptor, a down conductor and a grounding device. It is mainly used to protect the lightning protection device against lightning.
The external lightning protection device in this standard refers to the lightning protection system consisting of the blade lightning receptor, the cabin lightning receptor, the down conductor, and the grounding device.
3.3 Internal lightning protection device
In addition to external lightning protection devices, all other additional facilities are internal lightning protection devices, mainly used to reduce and protect lightning currents. The electromagnetic effect generated in the space.
3.4 Surge protector
A device for limiting transient overvoltages and venting corresponding transient overcurrents that contains at least one nonlinear component.
