Scope

NB/T 11515-2024 is the English-translated version of 地面-钻孔磁性源瞬变电磁法技术规程.

NB/T 11515-2024 is the Chinese energy industry code of practice for the surface-borehole magnetic source transient electromagnetic method, in which a loop source laid on the ground emits a transient field and the induced eddy current response is received in a borehole.

It covers the general principles, technical design, instruments and equipment, field data collection, data processing and interpretation, and the compilation of the results report and submission of materials.

Informative annexes explain how to calculate the primary field magnetic induction, provide field record sheets and quality error statistics, show the workflow and describe typical anomaly responses.

The method serves coalfield hydrogeology and the exploration of hidden geological hazards in coal mines, and similar surveys may use it for reference. Issued on 24 May 2024, it has applied since 24 November 2024.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Surface-borehole magnetic source transient electromagnetic method

Based on the electrical property difference of underground rock formations, a transient electromagnetic field is emitted underground by using a ground loop source and the induced eddy current field is received in the borehole. Electromagnetic detection methods.

3.2 Three components of borehole

It is composed of three components. A, U, and V. A is the axial component of the borehole, with the positive direction toward the hole mouth; U is on the vertical plane through the borehole, vertical to the

V is perpendicular to U and is the radial component of the borehole. Its positive direction is determined by the right-hand rule. When the borehole is vertical, the positive direction of U is north. Direction, the positive direction of V is west.

Note: Figure 1 shows the three-component directions of the drilling respectively.
