Scope
NB/T 11440-2023 is the English-translated version of 生产煤矿储量估算规范.
NB/T 11440-2023 is the Chinese energy industry specification for estimating coal reserves at mines that are already producing.
It sets the basic conditions an estimate must satisfy, the estimation requirements and the formulas to apply, and adopts the reserve categories of GB/T 17766-2020, distinguishing proved and probable reserves derived from measured and indicated resources.
Informative annexes give recovery rate indexes for underground mining areas and for coal seams in open-pit mines. Mine operators and reserve managers use it for producing mines, and it may also serve as a reference during mine construction and closure. Issued on 28 December 2023, it has applied since 28 June 2024.

3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 17766-2020 and the following apply to this document.
Reserves estimated based on proven resources when there is uncertainty about converting factors. [Source: GB/T 17766-2020, 2.13]
3.1 Mineral reserves
The economically recoverable portion of the proven and/or indicated resources is the product of a pre-feasibility study, feasibility study or its equivalent.
The technical and economic evaluation of the mining process takes into full account the possible ore loss and dilution, and the estimated technical feasibility of mining after reasonable use of conversion factors. feasibility and economic rationality.
Note: Reserves include proven reserves and probable reserves. [Source: GB/T 17766-2020, 2.12]
3.2 Proved reserves
Reserves estimated based on proven resources after a pre-feasibility study, feasibility study or equivalent technical and economic evaluation. [Source: GB/T 17766-2020, 2.14].
3.3 Probable reserves
Reserves estimated based on controlled resources after a pre-feasibility study, feasibility study or equivalent technical and economic evaluation; or certain.
3.4 Expected reserves
After a pre-feasibility study, feasibility study or equivalent technical and economic evaluation, based on the inferred resources in the mine geological work, Upgrade the estimated recoverable reserves with expected and confidence factors.
