1 Foreword

JB/T 9212-2010 was issued by MIIT on 11 February 2010 and has been in force since 1 July 2010.

It replaces the earlier edition JB/T 9212-1999.

2 Scope

This standard is a recommended Chinese machinery industry standard on non-destructive testing, and it gives the method for ultrasonic testing of welds in atmospheric steel storage tanks. It specifies how an A-type pulse-echo ultrasonic flaw detector is used to find imperfections in the weld and how the findings are graded for quality. The joints it applies to are T-joints and butt welded joints of thickness from 4 mm to 32 mm; lap joints are treated in an informative annex, while castings and austenitic stainless steel welds lie outside it. Its classifications are J04 and 19.100, and among the standards it quotes are GB/T 9445, JB/T 4730.3-2005 and JB/T 9214. It replaces JB/T 9212-1999.
