JB/T 10840-2008 is a recommended Chinese machinery industry standard for high-voltage AC metal-enclosed cable branching switchgear, and for rated voltages from 3.6 kV to 40.5 kV it specifies the product classification, the basic structure and technical requirements, the content and methods of the tests, the inspection rules, marking, packaging and transport. It applies to metal-enclosed cable branching devices installed indoors or outdoors in three-phase AC systems of 3 kV to 35 kV nominal voltage at a rated frequency of 50 Hz, used for ring-main cable supply or for receiving and radially distributing electrical energy; other types of cable branching device may refer to it. It also covers devices wholly or partly installed underground and liable to flooding. Its classifications are K43 and ICS 29.240.10.
