HG/T 3525-2011 is the Chinese chemical industry standard, recommended in status, for measuring aluminium ions in industrial circulating cooling water, and it gives two spectrophotometric procedures. The catechol violet procedure covers aluminium contents from 2 µg/L to 500 µg/L and may also be used on drinking water, surface water, groundwater and lightly polluted seawater. The ferron procedure covers the range 0.02 mg/L to 2.00 mg/L and extends to boiler water, demineralized water, condensate and the cooling water of water-cooled generators. GB/T 602, GB/T 603 and GB/T 6682 are quoted, and the standard supersedes HG/T 3525-2003. Issued on 20 December 2011, it has applied since 1 July 2012.
