The ultraviolet spectrophotometric method is suitable for determining benzotriazole and methylbenzotriazole in circulating cooling water systems and also in compound formulations, over a measuring range of 0.4 mg/L to 20 mg/L. High performance liquid chromatography is suitable for determining benzotriazole and methylbenzotriazole in compound formulations, over a range of 0.3 % to 3 %. The standard supersedes HG/T 3519-2012. It was issued on 28 July 2023 and took effect on 1 February 2024.

This standard specifies the determination method of benzotriazole in industrial circulating cooling water and compound chemicals. The ultraviolet spectrophotometry method in this standard is suitable for the determination of benzotriazole and methylbenzotriazole in circulating cooling water systems, and is also suitable for the determination of benzotriazole and methylbenzotriazole in compound pharmaceuticals. The measurement range is 0.4 mg/L ~ 20 mg/L. High-performance liquid chromatography is suitable for the determination of benzotriazole and methylbenzotriazole in compound pharmaceuticals, and the determination range is 0.3% to 3%.
