3 Terms and Definitions

For the purposes of this standard, the terms and definitions established in "Steel Pressure Vessels" GB 150 and "Specification of Design Base for Steel Chemical Vessels" HG/T 20580 and the following ones apply.

3.0.1 Carbon steel

It refers to the iron carbon alloy, without other intentionally-added alloy elements (elements such as Si and Al may be added for the purpose of deoxygenation), whose manganese content is less than or equal to 1.20 % and carbon content is less than or equal to 2.0 % . Low carbon steel generally refers to the carbon steel whose carbon content is less than or equal to 0.25 %.

3.0.2 Low alloy steel

It refers to the alloy steel formed by adding a small amount of alloy element in the carbon steel mainly for the purpose of increasing the steel intensity and improving the combination properties, including low-alloy structural steel, high strength low alloy steel and pearlite heat resistant steel. Low-carbon and weldable low-alloy structural steels are frequently used in chemical vessels.

3.0.3 Pearlite heat resistant steel

It refers to the low-carbon pearlite heat resistant steel added with such alloy elements as chrome (<=10%) and molybdenum mainly for the purpose of improving the heat-resistant and hydrogen-resistant property of steels.

3.0.4 Stainless steel

It refers to the alloy steel stainless in the atmosphere whose nominal chrome content is greater than or equal to 13%. It may be classified into the ferritic stainless steel, austenitic stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, martensitic stainless steel and so on according to the metallographic structure of steel at ordinary temperature.

3.0.5 Austenitic stainless steel

It refers to the stainless steel whose metallographic structure is mainly austenite at ordinary temperature.

3.0.6 Ferritic stainless steel

It refers to the stainless steel whose metallographic structure is mainly ferrite at ordinary temperature.

3.0.7 Duplex stainless steel

It refers to the stainless steel with about half ferritic phase and austenitic phase in the solid quenching (metallographic) structure at ordinary temperature.

3.0.8 Ferritic steel

It is the generic term of carbon steel, high strength low alloy steel, pearlite heat resistant steel and ferritic stainless steel.

3.0.9 Pressure parts

They refer to the spare parts directly bear the pressure of substances, such as cylinder, head, spherical shell, nozzle, flange and tube plate.

3.0.10 Non-pressure parts
