1 Scope

This document covers Taiji clothing for wushu: the cut, the construction, the materials and the appearance of the garment worn in taijiquan practice and competition. Taiji clothing is sportswear with a form the sport itself imposes. The movements are slow, continuous and full-range, so a garment that binds at the shoulder or hangs wrong at the waist is visible to a judge in a way it would not be in another discipline. Setting out what the garment has to be is part of how a traditional practice is turned into a scored competition. Issued on 26 October 2024 by SAMR and SAC as a guiding technical document, in force from 1 February 2025, under the technical jurisdiction of the General Administration of Sport of China. It pairs with GB/Z 44859 on the taiji sword: together they cover what a competitor wears and what a competitor holds.

This document specifies the classification, requirements, judgment rules and product instructions, packaging, transportation and storage of martial arts Tai Chi clothing. Test method. This document applies to the design, production and inspection of Tai Chi uniforms for martial arts. This document does not apply to children's Tai Chi clothing.
