1 Scope

This document specifies the general requirements, personnel requirements, site requirements, storage requirements and process requirements for the dismantling and recycling of waste lithium batteries from household electrical appliances, and describes the corresponding verification methods.

This document applies to the whole process of dismantling and recycling of waste lithium batteries used in household electrical appliances.

3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

3.1 lithium-ion battery: a device designed to be rechargeable that converts between chemical and electrical energy by the movement of lithium ions between the positive and negative electrodes. Note: in this document the term is shortened to "lithium battery". [Source: GB 40165-2021, 3.1]

3.2 waste lithium battery: lithium batteries, and their components, parts and scrap raw materials, that have lost their original use value.

3.3 module: an assembly of several cells connected in series or in parallel, with or without protective devices such as fuses or positive temperature coefficient thermistors.
