GB/T 4541-2023 is the Chinese national standard for the position-indicating lights fitted to marine life-saving appliances.
It sets their classification and marking, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking and recording, packaging and storage, and defines three kinds of light: lights for survival craft and rescue boats, which also light the boat inside, lifebuoy self-igniting floating lights, and lifejacket lights.
Clause 4.1.1 classes them by the appliance they are fitted to, with code TF for raft lights and Q for lifebuoy ring lights. Clause 1 says it applies to the design, manufacture and acceptance of such lights.
Its foreword states that it takes in the technical content of GB/T 30488-2014 and adds requirements for water-activated battery position lights and for positioning devices.
It replaces GB/T 4541-2008, was issued on 27 November 2023 and has applied since 1 March 2024.
