Scope

GB/T 5869-2025 is the English-translated version of 救生衣灯.

GB/T 5869-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering the light on a lifejacket that shows a person in the water — the fixed and flashing types and the dry cell, lithium and water-activated batteries, the burning time and luminous intensity that decide whether the wearer is seen, the colour, the watertightness under rain and immersion, the resistance to seawater, oil, mould, vibration and fire, the switch arrangement, the drop and throw test, and the electronic positioning function. It replaces GB/T 5869-2010, under the Ministry of Transport. In force from 1 March 2026. Issued on 29 August 2025, it has been in force since 1 March 2026, replacing GB/T 5869-2010.

Foreword

This document is in accordance with GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents". Drafting is scheduled.

This document replaces GB/T 5869-2010 "Life Jacket Lamp". Compared with GB/T 5869-2010, the main differences are structural adjustments and editorial changes.

Aside from the changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

The scope of application for life jacket lights has been revised to include life jacket lights with electronic positioning capabilities (see Chapter 1, 2010 edition). Chapter 1);

a) The definition of the term "life vest lamp" has been changed (see 3.1, 2.1 of the 2010 edition); b) The classification and structure of life jacket lights have been expanded (see Chapter 4); c) The technical requirements for life jacket lights have been changed (see Chapter 5, Chapter 3 of the 2010 edition); d) The testing method for life jacket lights has been changed (see Chapter 6, Chapter 4 of the 2010 edition); e) The inspection rules have been changed (see Chapter 7, Chapter 5 of the 2010 edition); f) The requirements for marking, packaging, transport, and storage have been changed (see Chapter 8, Chapter 6 of the 2010 edition). g) Please note that some content in this document may involve patents. 1 Scope

This document specifies the classification and structure, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, as well as marking, packaging, transportation, and other aspects of life jacket lights. Storage requirements.

This document applies to the design, production, inspection, and use of life jacket lights. Life jacket lights with electronic positioning functions should refer to this document for further information.
