Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents".

This document supersedes GB/T 20848-2017 "Mooring Chains". Compared with GB/T 20848-2017, this document has undergone structural adjustments and editing.

Aside from the sexual alterations, the main technical changes are as follows.

a) Added requirements for R6 grade mooring chains (see 5.1 and 5.6);

b) Added requirements related to raw materials (see 5.1.2, 5.1.3);

c) Added processing quality requirements (see 5.4);

d) Increased requirements for finished product grain size testing (see 6.1);

e) The requirement to use phased array ultrasonic methods for non-destructive testing has been added (see 6.4.4);

g) The requirements for surface hardness testing have been increased (see 6.6.1);

h) The requirements for hot-rolled round steel for mooring chains have been removed (see Appendix A of the 2017 edition);

i) The requirements for non-destructive testing have been removed (see Appendix B of the 2017 edition).
