Scope

GB/T 45019-2024 is the English-translated version of 道路用玄武岩纤维沥青混合料.

GB/T 45019-2024 covers asphalt mixtures reinforced with basalt fibre. Adding short fibres to asphalt addresses the two ways a pavement fails: rutting, where the mix deforms permanently under wheel loads in hot weather, and cracking, where it becomes brittle in cold weather and under repeated loading. Fibres bridge microcracks and hold the binder in place, improving both at once - which conventional binder modification struggles to do, since making a mix stiffer against rutting usually makes it more brittle against cracking. Basalt fibre is drawn from melted volcanic rock, which makes it cheap, chemically stable, and unproblematic at the temperatures asphalt is mixed and laid at. What decides whether it works is dispersion: fibres that clump rather than distribute do nothing for the mix and create weak points instead. This document specifies the types and specifications, the constituent materials, the technical requirements, the inspection rules and the transport requirements for basalt fibre asphalt mixtures for roads, and applies to their production, inspection and use. Under ICS 93.080.20 and CCS Q20, it is written for asphalt producers, paving contractors and road authorities.
