1 Scope

GB/T 44936.1-2024 sets the design principles for graphical symbols used to support communication with older people. The need is specific: symbols are the fallback when speech, hearing, literacy or memory fail, and symbol sets designed for general wayfinding are often unreadable to the people who most need them, because they rely on fine detail, low contrast, abstract metaphor or cultural references that do not transfer. 4 General

5 Design Program

The design of graphic symbols should comply with the following procedures.

a) Screen the design requirements of graphic symbols based on typical scenarios and communication needs in the daily lives of the elderly, and clarify what the graphic symbols are to represent The object of communication and its meaning;

b) Search for public information graphic symbols and other relevant national standards to see if there are graphic symbols with the same meaning as the graphic symbol to be designed. Number or symbol element;
