Scope

GB/T 44431-2024 is the English-translated version of 法人和其他组织统一社会信用代码信息应用指南.

GB/T 44431-2024 gives the guidelines for using the unified social credit identifier of Chinese legal entities and other organisations. The eighteen-character code replaced the several registration numbers an organisation used to carry, and because it is now the single key across business registration, tax, customs, courts and the social credit system, it has become a powerful joining key across databases that were never intended to be joined - which is the reason a guideline on its use, rather than only on its structure, was needed. The standard sets the application principles - legality and compliance, security and auditability, protection of rights, and consistency and traceability - then the application scenarios: identification, identity verification, risk warning, data governance, relationship mapping and data analysis, followed by the security requirements on the application itself. It took effect on 23 August 2024.
