Implementation Guide for Quality Monitoring of E-commerce Transaction Products

1 Scope

GB/T 42893-2023 covers how a quality monitoring exercise is run on tangible goods sold through e-commerce: the general clause, the preparation of the monitoring, and the carrying out of the monitoring, with an informative annex tabulating the risks that arise during the process and the controls set against them. Terms come from GB/T 35408-2017 and GB/T 37538-2019 and include the platform operator that supplies the online premises, the matching of transactions and the release of information. Buying a sample from a marketplace is not the same as taking one off a shelf. The seller may be hard to locate, the listing can change between the order and the delivery, the goods ship from a warehouse somewhere else, and the buyer is a regulator whose purchase has to hold up afterwards as evidence. Oversight of online trade already runs on risk monitoring, spot checks, source tracing, local enforcement and integrity management, and monitoring is the stage that feeds all of them, so a sampling exercise done inconsistently can be argued away.
