Scope
GB/T 42222-2022 is the English-translated version of 玻璃仪器 光学均匀性测试方法与分级.
GB/T 42222-2022 describes how the optical uniformity of laboratory glassware is tested and gives the classification that follows from the test.
It works by cross-polarized microscopy: parallel polarized light entering stressed or striated glass splits into two perpendicular beams whose different propagation speeds create an optical path difference, a full-wave plate of 565 nm optical path difference is placed in the light path so that the field background is purple, and the colour, width, position and thickness of the resulting interference colours and fringes, together with the tensile stress, become the grading indices.
It defines interference colour, tensile stress and the uniformity test itself. It applies to the uniformity testing and grading of glass instrument products, with other transparent hollow glass products referring to it. Issued on 30 December 2022, it has applied since 1 July 2023.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules for Standardization Documents" drafting.
1 Scope
This document describes the test method for optical uniformity of glass instruments and gives the optical uniformity classification of glass instruments.
This document is applicable to optical uniformity testing and grading of glass instrument products, and other transparent hollow glass products should be implemented as a reference.
2 Normative references

3 Terms and Definitions
GB/T 35599, GB/T 29159 and the following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Interference color
The color change of the heterogeneous body due to the change of the optical path difference under the microscope condition of orthogonally polarized light.
3.2 Tensile stress
The force exerted on an object by stretching.
3.3 Uniformity test
The state of interference color and interference fringes when orthogonally polarized light passes through a glass sample is used to evaluate the quality of glass uniformity.
3.4 Uniformity classification
The color, width, position and outer tension of the interference color and interference fringes presented by testing the stress and fringes of the glass sample section The force shall be graded and used as the evaluation index for the uniformity of the glass sample.
4 Test Principle
When a beam of parallel polarized light is incident on a heterogeneous glass with stress and stripes, the polarized light is decomposed into vibration directions perpendicular to each other.
The two beams of light are respectively defined as the x direction and the y direction, and their propagation speeds are cx and cy respectively, because the propagation speeds of the two beams of light in the glass are different At the same time, there will be an optical path difference delta. A full-wave plate with an optical path difference of 565nm is inserted between the cross-polarized microscope light paths, and the background color of the field of view is The color is purple, and the stress and stripes in the glass present different colors of interference colors and interference fringes. According to the color of interference colors and interference fringes, the And the shape, position and thickness of interference fringes are used to grade and evaluate the glass uniformity.
