GB/T 40420.1-2021 is the English-translated version of 基于公用电信网的宽带客户网关虚拟化第1部分:总体要求.

GB/T 40420.1-2021 is the first part of the Chinese series on virtualising broadband customer gateways over the public telecommunication network, and it sets the overall requirements for that virtualization.

It describes the logical structure of a virtualised broadband customer gateway, the basic and value-added services it provides, how gateway functions are divided between the physical gateway on the customer side and the virtual gateway on the network side, and three architectures: a function-centralised BNG mode, a function-centralised independent server mode and a function-distributed mode.

It also covers voice service virtualization and management, and defines terms such as physical residential gateway, physical business gateway and virtual gateway.

It applies to public telecommunication networks and may be used as a reference for private ones. It was issued on 11 October 2021 and has applied since 1 February 2022.

1 Scope

This part of GB/T 40420 specifies the logical structure, services provided, and functional planning of the broadband customer gateway virtualization of the public telecommunication network. Overall requirements such as sub-, virtualization architecture and management.

This section applies to the virtualization of broadband customer gateways in public telecommunication networks, and private telecommunication networks can also be used as a reference.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Physical gateway

A gateway device deployed on the broadband customer side in the broadband customer gateway virtualization scenario.

3.2 Physical residential gateway

A gateway device deployed on the customer side of a broadband home in a broadband customer gateway virtualization scenario.

3.3 Physical business gateway

A gateway device deployed on the client side of a broadband enterprise in a broadband customer gateway virtualization scenario.

3.4 Virtual gateway

A collection of gateway functions deployed on the network side in the broadband customer gateway virtualization scenario.

Note: These functions may be deployed on one network-side device, or they may be deployed on multiple network-side devices. These functions and the physical network deployed on the user side It provides the function of broadband customer gateway together.
