Scope
GB/T 39977-2021 is the English-translated version of 水族馆用聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯板材通用技术要求.
GB/T 39977-2021 sets the general technical requirements for the poly(methyl methacrylate) sheets used to build aquariums. It applies to acrylic sheets made from methyl methacrylate by bulk polymerisation that are joined together to form the walls of an aquarium.
The standard covers requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transport and storage. Its appearance requirements deal with the sheet surface, which must be smooth and clean without scratches or visible processing marks and with smooth bond lines, and with internal defects such as air bubbles and impurities.
Its normative references cover the standards on density, water absorption, linear expansion, tensile, impact and bending properties, Vicat softening temperature, light transmittance and haze, Rockwell hardness, xenon arc exposure and yellowness index. It was issued on 21 May 2021 and has applied since 1 December 2021.

Foreword
This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, markings, packaging, transportation and Store.
This standard applies to aquariums that are spliced by bulk polymerization (including single-layer polymerization and multi-layer polymerization) using methyl methacrylate as raw material.
The polymethyl methacrylate board used in the museum, hereinafter referred to as "plate".
