Scope

GB/T 39265-2020 is the English-translated version of 道路车辆 盲区监测(BSD)系统性能要求及试验方法.

GB/T 39265-2020 specifies the general requirements, performance requirements and test methods for the blind spot detection (BSD) system of road vehicles.

Clause 1 states that it applies to categories M and N vehicles equipped with blind spot detection systems, and that it does not apply to automobile trains, articulated passenger cars or special operating vehicles.

Clause 2 cites GB 4094, GB 34660 and GB/T 36606-2018. Clause 3 defines the vocabulary used, including blind spot detection (BSD), subject vehicle, adjacent area, right turn blind spot detection and self-check.

Clause 4, General requirements, is divided into an overview, system on and off, activation requirements, human-computer interaction requirements covering the warning method, the on/off indication and the system failure indication, self-check requirements, and a closing subclause that refers the signs of the controls, indicators and tell-tales to GB 4094.

Clause 5, Performance requirements, gives the blind spot detection range by vehicle category, the left and right blind zone warning requirements, the right turning blind spot warning for categories M2, M3, N2 and N3, a system response time of no more than 300 ms between the target vehicle entering the detection range and the warning, and an optional blind spot warning suppression of no more than 2 s.

Clause 6, Test method, covers the test environment conditions, the requirements and the accuracy of the test measurement system, and the blind spot detection tests themselves, run under straight-line driving conditions for categories M and N and under right turning for categories M2, M3, N2 and N3, with constant speeds and lateral distances set for the overtaking runs and, for the right turn scene, marking lines and a bicycle dummy laid out as specified in Figure 11 and Table 2.

The standard was proposed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China and is under the jurisdiction of the National Automotive Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC 114). It was issued on November 19, 2020 and has applied since June 1, 2021.

Foreword

This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the general requirements, performance requirements and test methods of the blind spot detection (BSD) system.

This standard applies to the categories M and N vehicles equipped with blind spot detection systems.

This standard does not apply to automobile trains, articulated passenger cars and special operating vehicles.

2 Normative references

The following documents are essential to the application of this document. For the dated documents, only the versions with the dates indicated are applicable to this document; for the undated documents, only the latest version (including all the amendments) is applicable to this standard.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Blind spot detection; BSD

Real-time monitoring of the driver's blind area of vision, making prompts or warnings when other road users appear in the blind area.

3.2 Subject vehicle

In accordance with the requirements of this standard, the vehicle under test for the BSD system test.

3.3 Adjacent area

The area located on and adjacent to the left and right sides of the subject vehicle.

3.8 Right turn blind spot detection

When the vehicle turns right, the blind spot on the right side of the driver is monitored in real time, meanwhile a warning message is issued when other road users appear in the blind area.

3.9 Self-check

The function of the system to check its own faults.

4 General requirements

4.1 Overview

4.1.1 When the subject vehicle is driving straight, the blind spot detection system for categories M and N vehicles shall be able to detect the target vehicle in the left and right adjacent areas of the subject vehicle and issue a warning when it enters the detection range.

4.2 System on and off

The BSD system shall have the function of manual ON or OFF.

When it is manually turned off, the status indication shall be given with an indication signal in accordance with 4.4.2.

4.3 Activation requirements

When the BSD system is turned on and in an inactive state, the system can detect the target vehicle, but shall not warn the driver. When the BSD system is activated, the system can be activated by at least one of the following methods.

4.4 Human-computer interaction requirements

4.4.1 Warning method

The system shall send out warning messages in a way that is easy to be perceived by the driver and can clearly indicate the side where the target vehicle appears. The warning indication information shall be clearly distinguished from the warning information of other systems in the vehicle.

4.4.2 On/off indication requirements

The system shall have an indication of the on/off state. The indications shall be visible visually.

4.4.3 System failure indication requirements

The system shall have a system failure indication reminder function. Its reminder status identification shall be clearly observed by the driver.

4.5 Self-check requirements

The system shall have at least the following self-check functions.

4.6 Others

The signs of the controls, indicators and tell-tales of the blind spot detection system shall meet the relevant requirements of GB 4094.

5 Performance requirements

5.1 Overview

5.1.1 Blind spot detection range for categories M1, N1 vehicles

The blind spot detection range of categories M1 and N1 vehicles is as shown in Figure 4.

5.2 Technical requirements

5.2.1 Target vehicle test requirements

The blind spot detection function shall cover the adjacent areas on the left and right sides.

5.2.2 Warning requirements for blind spot detection function
5.2.2.1 Left blind zone warning requirements

Carry out a straight-line driving test according to 6.3.2. When the target vehicle is within the range listed in the following conditions (see Figure 4 and Figure 5), the system shall issue a left blind zone warning.

5.2.2.2 Right blind zone warning requirements

Perform a straight-line driving test according to 6.3.2. When the target vehicle is within the range listed in the following conditions (see Figure 4 and Figure 5), the system shall issue a right blind zone warning.
