GB/T 38317.21-2019 is the part of the Chinese series on the space and fixing dimensions of smart electricity meters that covers the type A meter. It fixes the outline of the case and the safety-related structure, the installation dimensions by which a meter is interchangeable in its board, and the requirements on materials and workmanship.

It applies to type A meters installed in a grid with a nominal frequency of 50 Hz. Utilities use it when they specify a meter that has to fit an existing enclosure, and meter makers when they design one. Issued on 10 December 2019, it has applied since 1 July 2020.

This part is Part 21 of GB/T 38317.

This section is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.

1 Scope

This part of GB/T 38317 specifies the outline structure and safety of smart energy meter structure A-type energy meters (hereinafter referred to as "A-type meters").

Installation size, material and technology requirements.

This section applies to type A instruments installed and used in a power grid with a nominal frequency of 50Hz.

For other structural models of smart energy meters, please refer to this section.

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 17215.211 and GB/T 38317.11-2019 are applicable to this document.

4 Requirements

4.1 General requirements

In addition to the external structure and installation dimensions of single-phase and three-phase A-type meters, in addition to meeting GB/T 38317.11-2019, it should also meet 4.2 ~ 4.5 Requirements.

4.2 Overall structure and installation dimensions and colors

4.2.1 Dimensions

The external dimensions of the A-type meter shall meet the requirements of Table 1.
