Scope
GB/T 37270.2-2018 is the English-translated version of 海洋基础地理要素矢量地图 第2部分:符号库设计.
GB/T 37270.2-2018 is Part 2 of the Chinese national standard on vector maps of marine fundamental geographic features, and deals with the design of the symbol database.
It applies to the vector symbol libraries used in the electronic base maps of marine geographic information systems. The standard defines the vector map symbol library as a data set storing symbol information and sets four design principles: integrity, versatility, practicability and scalability.
It divides symbols into point, line and area types, as in Part 1, classifies them by the type of marine geographic feature, with the classification in Annex A, and builds each code from a vector identifier, a symbol type code and a classification code.
It also covers the structure of the symbol library. It was issued on 28 December 2018 and has applied since 1 July 2019.

Foreword
GB/T 37270 "Marine Basic Geographical Elements Vector Map" is divided into three parts.
--- Part 1. Symbol design;
--- Part 2. Symbol Library Design;
--- Part 3. Symbol format exchange.
This part is the second part of GB/T 37270.
This part is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 37270 specifies the principles, symbolic classification codes and symbol libraries for the design of vector symbols for marine basic geographic elements. Structural design.
This part is applicable to the design of the vector symbol library of marine basic geographic elements in the electronic base map of marine geographic information system.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Vector map symbol library
A data set that stores vector map symbol information.
4 Symbol Library Design Principles
The vector map symbol library design should follow the following four principles.
a) Integrity. complete structure and easy to use;
b) versatility. there are common data formats and interfaces;
c) practicability. can manage the vector map symbols of marine basic geographic elements;
d) Scalability. Supports the expansion of marine-based geographic elements based on existing symbols and codes.
5 Symbol classification code
5.1 Symbol Type
According to the provisions of GB/T 37270.1, it is divided into dot symbols, line symbols, and surface symbols.
5.2 Symbol Classification
Symbols are classified according to the type of marine basic geographic elements. See Appendix A for symbol classification.
5.3 Symbolic coding
5.3.1 Marine basic geographic elements Vector map symbol coding is divided into three parts. vector identifier, symbol type coding and symbol classification coding.
